【Day 2】Iceland 5-Day Trip
Day 2 in Iceland~
Breakfast
Bought a cinnamon roll and a vanilla roll from Brauð & Co~ This bakery is super famous, some reviews say it’s the best cinnamon roll in the world (

Both the vanilla and cinnamon rolls were 830 ISK each, fresh from the oven~ I’m not a huge fan of cinnamon, so I picked the vanilla one. It is very soft! (Fuwa fuwa~) The first few bites were pretty good, just a little sweet (I’m not used to sweets). Halfway through, it just felt too sweet and rich. My friend said the same thing about the cinnamon roll.
On the Street
The street signs are so weird~ I thought it meant “No holding hands with children” ( ) After translating it, I found out it means “pedestrian street.”

The weather has been pretty bad these last two days, either drizzling or overcast. The whole city is covered in dark clouds, which dampened my mood too qwq
Also, it’s impossible to tell the time from the sky! Morning, noon, or night, it all looks the same…

Flea Market
Decided to check out the flea market in the city center~ It’s called Kolaportið, and it’s only open on weekends.

The tour guide said that both Iceland and Japan were encouraged to start whaling by daddy USA ()

There are a lot of horses in Iceland

The traditional Icelandic sweater (Lopapeysa) is made from the unspun wool of Icelandic sheep and has a distinctive circular pattern around the shoulders. They aren’t cheap here, about 150 euros for one.

The uncle was very enthusiastic, showing us fish-skin ties and all kinds of dried fish skins, including shark and salmon.

Icelandic Phallological Museum
Off to the Phallological Museum across from the flea market~ It’s the museum with the largest display of penises in the world~ Tickets are 3500 ISK, and they don’t have student discounts qwq

Inside the museum, there are tons of animal penis specimens. The descriptions include the animals’ mating habits, penis size, etc., very detailed.

Seaside
After coming out of the Phallological Museum, we went for a walk by the nearby seaside.

Strolling the City Center
Walked from the seaside to the city center and around the City Hall~

Rainbow Street
Checking out the shops here~

Dinner
For dinner, we went to Icelandic Street Food, which mainly sells specialty soups with bread. A bowl of soup + bread is 2500 ISK. If you get the soup in a special bread bowl, it’s 3000 ISK. The soup comes with unlimited refills!

You can refill any of the three soups. We ordered the lamb soup and the shellfish soup. My advice is to order the shellfish soup first; the staff will scoop up a lot of langoustines. After that, just refill with the lamb soup. If you ask for a shellfish soup refill, you won’t get many shrimp, mostly just broth qwq
No matter how many times you refill the lamb soup, they always give you plenty of ingredients, so it’s a better deal. The shellfish soup has a creamy taste, which is interesting~ The lamb soup has big chunks of lamb, potatoes, and carrots. It’s delicious! (I had five bowls)
In Iceland, where a single hot dog costs 830, this place is such amazing value! Highly recommend!!!

Stroll After Dinner

Hallgrímskirkja

There’s a massive pipe organ at the church entrance. Someone was playing it when we went in. This instrument looks incredibly difficult to learn; you have to use both your hands and feet.
